The Port Austin Planning Commission completed the process of updating the Master Plan in 2023. The Commission subsequently completed the Parks and Recreation Master Plan in 2024. Input for both plans was collected from the public and the Land Access Information Association (LIAA).

The purpose of the Master Plan is to: 
-Identify attributes to be maintained
-List potential Improvements
-Suggest processes to achieve these goals
